About Dr. Ahmed
Following completion of his medical degree at Cairo University Medical School in Egypt, Prof. Ahmed Mohy Eldin Elbassiouny completed his internship, otolaryngology residency at Cairo University Hospital, and in pediatric otolaryngology Hospital. Upon completion of his training, Prof. Ahmed started to prepare his M.D thesis “office based laser surgery in snoring “in 1993. From that date, Prof. Ahmed started to be more interested in sleep surgery. Then Dr Bassiouny graduated to Ass. Professor, then Professor Degree of Otolaryngology at Cairo University Medical School in 2009.During his clinical practice, he made the decision to move all his attention to the snoring and sleep surgery part of his profession and established his current academic & clinical practice. However, the most formative part of Prof. Ahmed’s practice was to establish a protocol for sleep surgery and have a suitable palatal surgery that avoids postoperative palatal fibrosis and recurrence of snoring. Innovative techniques for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea have been established and published by Prof. Bassiouny. He is the first one world-wide how considered and utilized the important anatomical factor “the soft palatal webbing “as a new surgical concept in soft palatal and lateral pharyngeal wall surgeries.
Prof. Ahmed is an active member of many national and international professional organizations. A prolific researcher and author, Prof. Ahmed has published many articles and has edited two books , one for under guardant students, theoretical and clinical parts and the other one in snoring surgery . Further, Prof. Ahmed has presented his research at several meetings world-wide.
Prof. Ahmed Mohy Eldin Elbassiouny has had a highly distinguished career in the sleep surgery and is respected worldwide for his contributions to improving the treatment of patients with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.
Currently, Prof. Ahmed Mohy Eldin Elbassiouny is Consultant of Otolaryngology and sleep surgery at Al Slam International Hospital, Kuwait and Clinical Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Cairo University, Egypt.
The mission of the center is to strive for excellence in the Surgical management of ENT diseases , more specifically snoring and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
